There are only few settlements on the way to Mardi Himal trek making it a trek that diverts away from crowded settlements. The journey to Mardi Himal begins from city of Lakes Pokhara. From Pokhara you'll have a short drive to Phedi & from there your trekking begins as you trek to Deurali. Next day you'll trek to Forest camp & making your way up to Mardi base camp, you'll have to trek through Low camp, High camp, upper viewpoint & finally to Base camp. On your way back you will gradually descend down the terrain back into the valley and trek towards the village of Siding- which is a traditional small settlement where ethnic Gurung people reside. All along the journey, You'll get to see breathtaking views of Himalayan peaks like the Annapurna massif, the Hiunchuli (6441m), Gangapurna (7454m), the Mardi Himal (5553m) and the Machhapuchhre (6997m) etc. This trekking region is also home to extremely unique natural land of ecological diversity. You should definitely go for this trek if you're looking for 'off the beaten path' with fewer trekkers. Some of the main highlight of this trek are the excellent hill and mountain landscape; and marvel at the panoramic views of the massive Himalayan mountains including Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Hiunchuli and Mardi Himal. This 10 days long trek is something worth trying for all the adventure & nature lover. Itinerary Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1300 meters) This is your arrival day in Nepal. Our representative from Himalayan Recreation Treks will be there at Tribhuvan International Airport to pick you up & escort you to your accommodation in Kathmandu. You'll have a short brefying session regarding your trek after you reach at hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu. Day 02: Drive to Pokhara (827m): 6-7 hours Today, we will drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu which takes around 6-7 hours. Pokhara is obne of the most popular tourist hub also known as 'City of lakes'. The journey to Pokhara is filled with terrace farms, vast fields of mustard and rice plantations, and amazing hills with meandering rivers. You can take a short walk around the cuty if you want to after reaching Pokhara. Overnight stay at hotel in Pokhara. Day 03: Drive to Phedi and trek to Deurali (1,130m): 30 minutes’ drive, 4-5 hours trek Today early in the morning we start our drive to Phedi from where our ultimate trek begins. From Phedi as we begin our trek we'll be walking through terraced fields & small villages. Soon we will reach a small village called Dhampus where we will be having our lunch. As we continue our walk, we reach a small beautiful village Deurali located on a ridge with an amazing views of Annapurna, Mardi & Machhapuchre. Overnight stay at guesthouse in Deurali. Day 04: Deurali to Forest Camp (2,050m): 6-7 hours From Deurali, we'll be trekking to Forest camp today. We trek through quite & narrow trail, passing through lush forest dotted with rhododendrons. Our trail is actually very quite until we reach clearing of the forest camp. We can get some amazing views of mighty mountains upon reaching Forest camp. Overnight stay at Forest Camp. Day 05: Forest Camp to Low Camp (3,050m): 5-6 hours We continue our trek & head toward Low camp where the trail is mostly upward. We walk through dense forests admiring the rich bio diversity & landscape of Nepal. After reaching Low camp we can get the fantastic view of Mt. Machapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) up the valley. We can spend some time observing the local lifestyle there late in the evening. Overnight at low camp. Day 06: Low Camp to High Camp (3,600m): 3-4 hours We trek uphill alongside a ridge towards Mardi Himal and Macchhapuchhre. We ascend up to the high camp, which the final destination of the day. The grassland terrain also begins to get wet with snow as you climb up the elevation. From High Camp, the view of the Annapurna Himalayas is one of the most spectacular in the trekking journey. Overnight stay at High Camp. Day 07:High Camp to Upper Viewpoint (4,250m), return back to High Camp: 2-3 hours Today from High camp we'll make our way to Upper viewpoint. On our trek to upper viewpoint we ascend & descend on a steep & narrow trail. The view of Himalayas is something worth seeing from here. You can get some majestic views ofMardi Himal (5553m), the Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), the Hiunchuli Peak (6441m), the Baraha Shikhar (7647m), Mount Machhapuchhre (6997m) and the Lamjung Himal (6983m) etc from upper viewpoint. After spending some time at upper viewpoint we'll return back to High camp. Overnight stay at High camp. Day 08: High Camp to Siding Village (1,700m): 6-7 hours From high camp we today, we'll slowly descend down back & head toward a village called Siding. Siding village is a small traditional village of gurung people. Overnight stay at guesthouse in Siding village. Day 09: Trek to Lumle, drive to Pokhara and fly to Kathmandu: 2-3 hours trek, 2 hours drive and 25 minutes flight Finally today we'll be getting back to Pokhara. We begin our trek early in the morning to lumle after having our breakfast. From lumle we'll drive to Pokhara which will be of around 2 hours. And then, from Pokhara we'll fly back to kathmandu. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu. Day 10: Final departure This is your depareture day. Our representative from Himalayan Recreation treks will be there to drop you off at the airport at the time of your departure. We have thousands of visitors entering Nepal every year for Everest Base Camp Trek. We often hear the same question from most of them. They are;- "How do I prepare for the trek?" & "How hard is the Trek?". Many people take Everest Base Camp trek as something impossible for untrained trekkers & It's true that the trek is tougher than the lots of people imagine it. While the trek is tough, it is still possible to complete the trek smoothly with proper training & preparation. With the right attitude & training, trekkers of all age, size & shape can complete the trek & have a wonderful time during their journey. Everest base camp Trek is a non-technical trek that doesn't require any mountaineering experience. Despite of it being achieveable trek that most of the trekkers can complete easily, there are some challenges that comes along your way on this journey. The highest point on your trek will be Kala Patthar which stands at just over 5500m. Even the starting point of your trek will be at an altitude of 2600m at lukla airport. Depending on your fitness level, you'll have to train & prepare for yourelf. You should get yourself physically & mentally ready to take on this challenge & also don't forget to check in with your doctor before taking any physical challenges . Training guide: -Hiking Practice One of the best way to prepare for your trek is to get out for some short or long hikes. You can search for some hike trails around your town & go for a walk. Get used to long walk & learn more about your body & how far you can push yourself. You'll be walking for atleast 6 hours a day during you trek. So, you definitely need to get used to taking a long walks. Also, try carrying some weights while hiking to check your stamina & fitness level, that'll help you enjoy your upcoming trekking more comfortably. -Cardio Training Cardio workouts or exercise help your body adjust in low oxygen or high altitude. This training will help you keep your body in control at high elevation which will make your trek trek more enjoyable. Since your body is not used to staying at higher elevation & you'll be trekking & accommodating at higher elevation most of the time during your trek, it will be slightly harder for your body to adjust in higher elevation. Cardio training is a physical conditioning that exercises the heart & lungs. So, developing your cardio endurance with simple exercise 2-3 times a week will definitely make a huge difference during your trek. -Strength Training It is best to have some strength training done before your ultimate trekking. Strength training is the best option of you canot go for practice hikes, it'll help your body & legs get ready as you will be walking & gaining elevation for several hours a day. This training helps to build your strength, stamina & fitness level which is a great start for your trek. You can repeat this training 2-3 times a week & you'll defenitely not regret doing this as it will help you have much more comfortable & enjoyable time during your trek. After checking your body fitness level & preparing yourself physically, You also need to prepare yourself mentally. Mental preparation is very important to make any trek sucessful. Once you're fully mentally & physically prepared for your trek, we're sure that your trek will be a huge success. |
